Therefore, waterproof and dust proof measures should be taken to prevent switch failure. The general practice is to install a switch protective cover to protect the switch from wind, rain and dust, but once the protective cover deteriorates, rain and dust will invade, resulting in switch failure. Manufactured in a black aluminum alloy housing with built-in silicone rubber seals, the switch is rated TUV: IP68 and is ideal for harsh environment and power flush applications, or anywhere that may be exposed to dust, water or other hazardous ingredients. The PBM series switches are tested for vibration (10 to 500Hz) and shock (up to 50g), and are rated for a mechanical life of up to 500,000 cycles. Its fretting characteristics provide positive tactile feedback, while operating forces as low as 3N reduce operator fatigue. Designed for front panel mounting, the switch has a threaded body and can be fitted with a nut washer as standard. The PBM family of switches offers a variety of button types and colors, thus providing designers with greater flexibility. Silver contacts can handle resistive currents up to 5A, and gold plated silver contact designs are available for low-current applications as low as 10mA. Optional circuits include transient SPST NC, SPST NO, and SPDT -- all in a double-break design.
